Stigma
The stigma with bookkeepers is that we have always been seen as a kind of ‘adminy’ person. Just entering the figures!
That really is not the case nowadays.
We bookkeepers work really hard to get through our exams. Don’t get me wrong, accountants do too and I work with some great accountants.
As bookkeepers we can complete your books right up to Year End, including your submissions of your final accounts for all entities. Who knew!?
I outsource my client submissions and final accounts to my trusted group of bookkeepers, unless they have their own accountant or suitably qualified person to carry out those tasks.
Tasks
The tasks I carry out are…
- Entering of sales invoices
- Entering of purchases invoices
- Payroll
- VAT
- Bank Reconcilliations
- Trial Balance
- Monthly or quarterly management accounts
- Depreciation
- Accruals/Pre-payments
- CIS
- Improving your systems if needed
- Advising you on easier ways of working
- A sounding board
So in summary…some accountants just carry out the submissions and analyzing of your figures and leave everything else to the bookkeepers whom in fact can also do what the accountants can do.
Which will you go with? If you choose to have a bookkeeper, you don’t necessarily need to have an accountant too.
